Angioedema

Definition: Skin swelling that results from a similar process causing urticaria (hives), but the swelling occurs beneath the skin instead of on the surface. Angioedema is characterized by deep swelling around the eyes and lips and sometimes of the hands and feet. Angioedema rarely itches, but rather stings or burns. The swelling is typically not red, and is not typically symmetrical.
